Window regulator & motor replacement — mobile, Sydney
When a power window drops, jams or goes silent, it’s almost always the regulator, the motor or the switch. We diagnose which one at your car — at home, at work or kerbside anywhere across Sydney metro — and replace only what’s failed.
Symptom → cause → fix
| What you notice | Usual cause | Usual fix |
|---|---|---|
| Motor whirrs, glass doesn’t move | Snapped regulator cable | Replace regulator |
| Glass dropped inside the door | Broken cable or glass clip | Replace regulator, refit glass |
| Glass tilts or goes up crooked | Cracked clip or pulley | Replace regulator, realign glass |
| Nothing happens, no sound | Motor, switch, fuse or wiring | Test circuit, replace failed part |
| Slow, stops part way | Worn motor | Replace motor |
| Auto-up stopped working | Lost calibration after battery or repair | Reset / re-initialise |
What the regulator does
The regulator is the mechanism inside the door that lifts and lowers the glass. Most modern cars use a cable type: steel cables run over plastic pulleys and through plastic glass clips. Heat and age make the plastic brittle, and once a clip cracks or a cable frays, the glass tilts, sticks or falls.
What the motor does
The motor bolts to the regulator and drives it. A worn motor gets slower, works only when the car is running, or stops mid-travel. On many cars the motor and regulator come as one assembly — we’ll tell you which applies to yours when we quote.

Hyundai i30 window regulator problems
The i30 is one of the most common cars we see with failed window regulators. The typical signs are a crunching noise, glass sitting crooked, or the window dropping into the door. We carry the right parts to fix it on-site.

Can I keep driving with a broken regulator?
Yes, if the glass is fully up and holding. If it’s down, loose or rattling, the car isn’t secure and rain can get into the door and wiring — get it fixed quickly. Don’t keep pressing the switch, as it can burn out the motor or tangle the cable.
Do you use genuine parts?
We fit quality aftermarket parts as standard and can source genuine parts on request. Your quote will say exactly which part we’re fitting, so you can choose.
Should I replace the motor and regulator together?
Only if both are worn. On many cars they come as one assembly, so it’s replaced as a unit anyway. Where they’re separate, we test the motor and only replace it if it’s slow, noisy or drawing too much current.
Why did the window break again on the same door?
Usually because a cheap regulator was fitted, the glass wasn’t aligned, or the old motor was left in when it was already straining. We align the glass in its channels and test the motor’s load so the new part isn’t working against it.
My window stopped auto-closing after a battery change. Is it broken?
Probably not. Many cars lose their window calibration when the battery is disconnected. Hold the switch up for a few seconds after the window closes to reset it. If that doesn’t work, we can re-initialise it for you.
Do you replace window glass too?
Yes. We replace smashed or cracked side window glass on-site, clear the broken glass out of the door and check the regulator wasn’t damaged at the same time.
How do I get a price?
Send us the make, model, year and which window. We’ll confirm the right part for your car and quote before booking — no obligation.
